TONI EVANS FEATURED ON SWAROVSKI
PREVIEW THE MAKING

The making of Crystal Rain occurred in a week from late nights to heavenly sunrise. It was a fully immersive experience to create such a beautiful piece in a matter of days on my bedroom floor. I would deconstruct in my mind how I think it should be built and just go for it. I had no prior experience in sewing fabric but from a brief introduction to sewing leatherwork I adapted my understanding of sewing leather techniques. The piece is created really by tension, holding itself together through soldered brass tubing and bamboo. Aurora Borealis stones sponsored by Swarovski were strung creating the very physical element of iridescent, luminosity found in nature.
